Hartford Seminary announces “Seminary Summer Reading” in preparation for its 175th Anniversary Celebration October 18-26, 2008.
Three titles have been chosen for discussion; choose one, two or all three and plan to join us during our Anniversary Week, October 18-26, for a book club discussion group. The week also will feature free lectures, tours and workshops, along with other unique opportunities to experience our “Hartford Seminary Sampler.”
The three titles are:
The Faith Club. Idliby, Oliver, and Warner. A groundbreaking book about Americans searching for faith and mutual respect, interweaving the stories of three women, their three religions, and their urgent quest to understand one another.
At the Entrance to the Garden of Eden. Yossi Klein Halevi. The story of one Jewish man’s journey through the Holy Land with Muslims and Christians in search of common ground for peace and understanding. A sometimes heartbreaking and always inspiring story of a courageous spiritual quest.
The Mighty and the Almighty. Madeleine Albright. This former U.N. ambassador and Secretary of State explores the relationship between world leaders and their religious convictions, the role of religion in conflict and peacekeeping , and its impact on world events.

Bookstore summer hours are 8:30-5:30, Monday through Thursday, through August 21. Closed Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and August 22nd-September 1. Normal hours (8-5) resume on September 2.
